Prepare your students for a job interview success
Mock interviews are helpful in guiding a student through the job interview process so they have an idea as to what to expect and how to perform. Our ‘Interview Assurance’ training program puts students through a simulated real-life job interview conducted by industry professionals.
Going for a job interview at the best of times can be daunting. When nerves are in play, it can be hard to know how to answer tricky questions. We want students to experience job interviews while there is nothing at stake, so they won’t have to go into an interview ‘cold’ and can feel confident about their performance.
When many students finish school, they are thrown in the ‘deep end’ when it comes to nailing a job interview. We break down the interview process and provide students with the tools to prepare for their mock interview. The 15-minute ‘mock interview’ aims to simulate a real-life situation.
As the job interview can often be the deciding factor when applying for a competitive position, we focus on providing in-depth feedback. The feedback process will analyse everything from start to finish, including clothing choice, tone of voice, handshake, eye contact and more.
For students, the interview is nothing to be anxious about as our friendly staff will guide you through the process and provide information on the steps you need to take to prepare – just like you would in a real-life interview.
For today’s youth, getting a job that they love is the first step to building a long and rewarding career. The job market is competitive, with many applicants in the running for a single job. Therefore, a good first impression during a job interview is not only vital, it is one of the most important aspects of the job search.
Building skills and confidence through mock interviews will prepare students with the types of answers that will impress potential employers. A job interview is an ideal opportunity to showcase their knowledge and enthusiasm for the specific industry. It’s the best chance to convince an employer they are the best person for the job, and can more often than not, be the deciding factor.
The mock interview will highlight key areas of improvement. Often recruiters will base their hiring decision on factors such as dress, timeliness and preparation. Through one-on-one interaction with our mock interviewer, they will not only analyse areas of improvement but provide strategies on how to overcome any downfall. The interviewer will also highlight your greatest selling points and teach you how to emphasise these during a real interview.
Some students may feel nervous in the lead up to their mock interview. This is to be expected and is all part of the learning process. During the 15-minute interview, the students are asked questions that potential employers will ask and afterwards, they receive feedback evaluation and a certificate of participation.
Prepare your interview outfit in advance! Consider the position that you are applying for and dress appropriately. For example, if it is an office position, you should wear corporate attire. As a general rule, make sure your uniform is ironed and your shoes are clean!
Find out as much as you can about the employer before the interview. This will show them you have completed research prior to the interview and are enthusiastic about the position. Be prepared with your list of appropriate questions to ask at the end of the interview.
So, tell me about yourself? This is one of the most popular questions that employers ask. However, a lack of preparation can quickly lead the interview astray. Aim to be prepared for this question by rehearsing an answer that aligns with the role you are applying for.
First impressions count! Arriving a few minutes early will give you an opportunity to relax and also highlight that you are reliable. Practice a firm handshake and steady eye contact at home, so it seems second nature during the interview. And don’t forget to smile!
